RISE – Day 44

RISE

Day Forty-four – Today is day Forty-four. Today is another one of those days we are encouraging positive attitudes. Military parachute riggers go through a series of strenuous courses to refine their craft of inspecting, mending, and packing parachutes for military applications, including riggings for vehicles that weigh tons, but need to be dropped on the battlefield. To inspect and pack an individual parachute can take hours and after each packing, the military routinely requires the rigger to put on the chute and make a jump, which can take only a few moments. The care and precision of the rigger will determine whether one has a good day or a very, very bad one. So, who and what packs your chute?  What do we let determine the quality of the day we have?

Part of that answer certainly should be Christ and His word, but a large part of the packing is the attitude with which it is done. When we pack into our chute dark things…troubled things…negative things…heavy things…things that are critical for the sake of being critical…complaints…groanings…murmurings…things that always seek to find the “bad”… then we make our own bad…often very, very bad days. You can’t blame others. You can’t blame the boss. You can’t blame God. You can’t blame wife, child, or parent. You packed the chute.

It’s day Forty-four. What does your chute look like? Part of the transformation process is coming to grips with the attitude we use to approach it and life in general. Let yours be reflective of the attitude and mind of Christ.
